On Friday evening July 19, my daughter, son-in-law, and myself were at the Casey's on North Center Point Road in Hiawatha picking up eight large pizzas. We were getting the pizza for a gathering of family and friends, including a friend and her three daughters. Their dad and husband, a career U.S. Army serviceman, had just been deployed for the third time, this time to South Korea, the previous two to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Not knowing why we would be buying eight pizzas, a gentlemen at the register buying three slices of pizza told the cashier he wanted to pay for our pizzas. We told him that wasn't necessary. He simply said, 'pay it forward,” and proceeded to pick up the entire $130.00 tab. Thank you sir! Your act of kindness was shared by a wife and daughters with dad in Korea later that night. Your actions inspired many of us that Friday night. Now it's all our turns to pay it forward!
