Verizon bringing 4G service to Iowa City

Verizon Wireless will roll out its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Iowa City and Davenport by the end of this year.
Verizon's 4G LTE network currently reaches 88 metropolitans areas with 110 million people, more than one-third of all Americans. Iowa City and Davenport will be the first Iowa communities with access to Verizon's fourth generation wireless network.
Verizon's 4G LTE network will offer faster Internet upload and download speeds than the carrier's existing 3G network. Iowa City and Davenport were two of 59 additional cities where Verizon Wireless plans to install 4G LTE equipment this year, bring the total number of communities with the advanced communications infrastructure to 147.
Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon Wireless serves more than 94 million customers. It is a joint venture of Verizon Communications, which has operations in Cedar Rapids, and Vodafone.
