Jim was born Sept. 13, 1951, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Ellen (Nehring) Megan. He was a 1969 graduate of LaSalle High School and later went on to earn his BSN from Iowa Wesleyan University. On Aug. 14, 1976, Jim married Joellen Yarosevich in Iowa City. For over 40 years Jim worked as a registered nurse, retiring in 2013.
Jim had a deep appreciation of nature and loved spending time in the local parks during seasonal changes. He was an avid gardener and loved caring for the family rose garden. Jim enjoyed four beloved Labrador retrievers over four decades.
He was a kind, gentle person who spent his life career nursing others back to health. He enjoyed reading biographies and history, as well as following train schedules. Jim was a kind soul and his dry sense of humor will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. He will be much missed by many friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Joellen, and many beloved cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ellen Megan.
