White, Muriel Adele
Muriel Adele White, 91, a resident of Hallmar Care Center, died there Wednesday, July 27, 2011, following an extended illness. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with services immediately following at 11 a.m. Entombment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by a brother, Erwin Vogt; her godchildren, Larry Wichmann, Barbara Witzel and Douglas Wichmann; and her other special nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hilda Vogt; her husband, Howard; a daughter, Anne, at birth; and her sister, Helen Wichmann.
A lifelong Iowan, Muriel was born Nov. 6, 1919, in rural Homestead. She married Howard E. White on April 14, 1943, in Marengo. He passed away in 2007. Early in her career, Muriel was employed in Cedar Rapids by Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. and in later years by Drug Town Pharmacy from which she retired.
Muriel was active in numerous community groups throughout her life, some of which included American Red Cross, PEO Chapter JI, and P. Buckley Moss Society, Reflections Chapter charter member. She enjoyed the art of counted cross stitch and avidly played in multiple bridge clubs. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Society.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to doctors Voigts, Saxena and Schroeder and to all those individuals who lovingly cared for Aunt Muriel at Hallmar Care Center and at Mercy Medical Center's Dialysis Unit.
