Iowa’s existing felon voting law has merit

A forcible felony is any felonious child endangerment, assault, murder, sexual abuse, kidnapping, robbery, human trafficking, arson in the first degree, or burglary in the first degree. Because these crimes effect their victims so severely, the present Iowa laws reflect the seriousness of the offense. Presently, Iowa law prohibits the right to vote for felons.

If this doesn't discourage them from disobeying the law, it will keep them from voting for candidates and/or policies that make it easier to break laws. Also, the law can be overturned for some felons.

Gov. Kim Reynolds should think long and hard about giving the right to vote back to every felon.
