CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels officially announced one incoming player Monday afternoon, but not two that are outgoing.
Infielder Jonatan Hinojosa will join the Midwest League club in time for its game Tuesday at Beloit. This will be his second stint in Cedar Rapids, though his first lasted all of one game before he was suspended by Major League Baseball for a violation of its performance-enhancing drug use policy.
Hinojosa served his 50-game suspension and was hitting .247 in 32 games for Rookie-level Elizabethton.
Third baseman Bryan Haar and relief pitcher Nick Burdi are being promoted from Cedar Rapids to high-Class A Fort Myers. Haar hit .267 in 108 games for the Kernels, with 20 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs and 63 RBIs.
Burdi, the parent Minnesota Twins' No. 2 draft pick this June, wowed locals with a fastball that was clocked as high as 101 miles per hour and a slider that hit 91. He had four saves in 13 games here, with 26 strikeouts in 13 innings.
