Salvation Army short $83,000 of goal in Cedar Rapids
Dec. 29, 2017 12:16 am
CEDAR RAPIDS - Though Salvation Army volunteers and employees have stopped ringing bells for the annual Red Kettle campaign, the Salvation Army of Cedar Rapids still needs almost $83,000 to meet its fundraising goal.
The organization has raised $655,331, or 89 percent of its holiday fundraising goal of $748,000, according to a Thursday news release.
Lia Pontarelli, director of development and communications, said the organization still hopes to meet that goal.
Donations during the holiday season bring in about 47 percent of the annual operating budget, which pays for a community meal program, rent and utility assistance, supplemental food boxes, senior services and youth programs.
To make year-end contributions, donations can be mailed to 1000 C Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
Donations also can be made online at tsacedarrapids.org or by calling (319) 364-9131.
The Salvations Army office, at 1000 C Ave. NW, will be open to accept donations through 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Offices will be closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the New Year holiday.
