Vote in election to show you care

To the editor:
Earlier this month, over a thousand people turned out to hear attorney Bryan Stevenson talk about how the true measure of our commitment to justice, fairness and equality is not 'how we treat the rich, the powerful, and the privileged, but how we treat the poor, the disfavored, the accused, the incarcerated, and the condemned.”
Iowa City is not immune from the problems of poverty, racial bias and social injustice, but we have many opportunities to address those problems, including the city council election on Nov. 3.
I hope the people who gave a standing ovation to Stevenson and everyone else who cares about these problems will join me in voting for Rockne Cole, Pauline Taylor, John Thomas and Jim Throgmorton.
