MARGUERITE LIMOSETH

Marguerite Waalkes Limoseth, 105, of Iowa City, departed this life Thursday, May 29, 2014. She passed peacefully at Lantern Park Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center in Coralville. A visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, at First
Presbyterian Church in
Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Memory
Gardens Cemetery.
Marguerite was born June 17, 1908, in Boscobel, Wis., the daughter of the Rev. Frederick Waalkes and Barbara Loetscher Waalkes. A graduate of Dubuque University in Dubuque, Marguerite was a devoted teacher her entire life. She began her career in a country schoolhouse in 1926. She moved to Ackley, Iowa, to teach in 1935, teaching there through 1950. She then moved to
Iowa City, finishing her professional career in the Iowa City public school system. Throughout her career, she continued her professional education in the summers and traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe.
Soon after retirement, Marguerite was united in marriage in 1977 to Dr. Orlando B. (O.B.) Limoseth. They continued to live in Iowa City. Marguerite was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church on
Rochester Avenue in Iowa City for many years.
Marguerite is survived by one niece, Dorthy Ruth (Waalkes) Vis of Rushmore, Minn.; one niece-in-law, Marilyn Meyer Harken of Camdenton, Mo.; and six great-nieces and three great-nephews, but many knew her best as "Aunt Marge."
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Limoseth; parents, Fredrick and Barbara; three brothers, John, Carl and Fred Waalkes; her sister, Grace Waalkes Harken; her nephew, Ronald Harken; niece, Janette Harken Welin; and great-niece, Kristen Welin Osborn.
