Braumann, Janette C.
HIAWATHA - Janette C. Braumann, 77, of Hiawatha, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Faith and Life Center in Marion. The Rev. Jonathan Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and at the church after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Surviving to honor her memory are her daughter, Karen (Scott) Brenneman of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Judy (Gerald) Weers of Marion and Jeanne (Duane) Keegan of Anamosa; two grandsons, Gregory and Grant; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Janette was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Anamosa, to Roy and Mildred (Holden) Weighels. She graduated from Anamosa High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Richard Rabik on Dec. 30, 1956, in Anamosa. He passed away Nov. 20, 1964. She married Evron Braumann and they later divorced.
Janette was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Faith and Life Center and NAWIC. She was employed at Shive-Hattery as an administrative assistant. After retirement she volunteered at Prairie Woods, Crossroads Missions, and the Community Health Free Clinic.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
