Joe Sparano, 89, of Marion, formerly of Oelwein, died Monday morning, Oct. 10, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13,at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Harry Koelker officiating.Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein.Parish Scripture Service: 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Sparano of Hiawatha;daughter, Julie (Ted) Ebertsch of Cedar Rapids; and son, Jim (Sue) Sparano of Golden, Colo..
Joe adored his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
