Williams, Joe (Gerald)
Joe (Gerald) Williams, 78, of 2500 Glacier St. SW, passed Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by his loving family and friends. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hills Community Church, 6455 E Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Selma; sons, David (Jane), Dale and Darrin (Laura) of Cedar Rapids and Dan of Utah; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Gale (Wanda) and Larry (Kathleen); many nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Renee (Mike), Shawn (Jill), Joel (Jenni), Pat (Karen), Mark (Margaret), Robyn, and Amy (Chris); 18 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild on the way.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Lulu Williams; his first wife, Jeanette, brothers, Lyle, Wayne, Blair and Ronnie; and sister, Helen.
Joe was born July 2, 1934, in Onslow. He owned and operated Joe's Auto Service on Blairs Ferry Road for 20 years. For the last several years he worked as a driver for Hertz Rental Cars, enjoying the friendship of fellow workers. He loved to play cards and spend time with his family and friends.
Joe is remembered as a remarkable being with a big heart, fantastic sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. He was loved greatly, and will be deeply missed.
