Coder, Lyle Gene
Lyle Gene Coder, 70, of Anamosa, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a five-year fight with Lymphoma Cancer. Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. The Rev. Ron Thatcher will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Scotch Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, Terry (Connie) Coder and Bryan (Lisa) Coder, all of Anamosa; granddaughter, Crystal Coder; step-granddaughter, Regan Larson; grandson, Bennett Coder; two brothers, Kenny (Jan) Coder of Anamosa, and Larry Coder of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle Gene Coder was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Iowa City to Howard and Iva Peden Coder. He grew up on a farm outside of Anamosa with his brothers, Kenny and Larry. He later marred Lois Wheelock. Lyle built a home on the family farm in 1963. He spent most of his working years at Mount Vernon Schools where he retired after 29 years in 2000. Since retirement, he has spent his days on the farm where he could often be found walking and riding the 4-wheeler with his dog, Rodeo. Most important to him was his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and visiting with many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given by the donors choice.
