The following is from Buds Community Garden Network:
Buds Community Garden Network is thrilled to announce that 6650 pounds of garden produce was donated locally through the Garden Writer's Association ‘Plant a Row for the Hungry' program. The program invites CSA farmers and other gardeners to donate garden produce to local emergency food programs and families with limited access to fresh foods. The program began May 15th and ended October 1st.
Dora Bopp, Buds Coordinator states ‘gardeners are excited to share their produce and emergency food programs are happy to receive to distribute to their families.' A goal of 1000 pounds had been established, so this was truly an amazing success!
Buds Community Garden Network supports community gardens by connecting them to resources and to each other. Additional information about Buds and the ‘Plant a Row for the Hungry' program can be found at www.budsgardennetwork.org or by calling Dora Bopp at 319.739.0051.
