Tichy, Marie Louise
Marie Louise Tichy, 90, of Ely, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Hallmar in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Marie was born March 25, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Rose Hac Blazek. She married Charles W. Tichy on June 23, 1941, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Marie worked as a seamstress for many years at Mitvalskys and Berger Furriers.
Marie enjoyed sewing crafts, canning, gardening, helping out on the farm, traveling, camping, playing the organ, square dancing, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She belonged to the Blue Willow Club.
Marie is survived by her children, Charles (Bonnie) Tichy of Cedar Rapids, SuAnn Tichy of Ely and Rich (Pam) Tichy of Ely; five grandchildren, Alan Tichy, Beth (Mike) Golden, Amy, Richard and Anna Tichy; and one great-grandson, Steven Wichtendahl.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; two sons, Steven and David Tichy; a granddaughter, Janet Tichy; and a brother, Chuck Blazek.
