Erkel, Evelyn M.
Evelyn M. Erkel, 83, of Sumner, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 26, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, with Susan Friedrich, Associate of Ministry, officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Sumner. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday.
Evleyn is survived by her two children, James (Sherri) Erkel of Central City and June Erkel of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Dan (Angie) Erkel of Marion, Julie (Andrew) Erkel-Hagee of Decatur, Ga., and Matt Erkel of St. Paul, Minn.; 4 great-grandchildren, Brennan, Wyatt and Hailey Erkel and Jakob Hagee; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia Toenges of Hawkeye, Robert (Jenny) Erkel of Lynnwood, Wash., Harold “Pat” (Joyce) Erkel of Iowa City and Gretchen (Guy “Jeep”) Jones of Cambridge, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
