Speed of boats is a concern

Much has been said by both sides on changing the 10-horsepower restriction (on Lake Macbride). Some favoring larger boat motors keep referring to the no-wake rule. The wake can vary depending upon the motor speed as well as how far the motor sits in the water and the plane of the motor. I am more concerned with the speed of the boats.
I am a retired senior citizen and an avid fisherman on Lake Macbride. Many times I have almost been swamped by speeding boats.
For the first time, the bill to change the law has passed the Iowa House.
Why do you think it has not passed before now? I contend that it is because most fishermen don't want it changed. Most boat accidents are caused by speed or alcohol abuse. To change the law, it is imperative that a strict penalty be added for violators. The money raised can be used to fund the extra DNR officers needed to enforce the law. I see no reason to change the law. Tell your legislators how you feel.
