Vander Plaats wants it both ways

Bob Vander Plaats is against unions. Vander Plaats said Iowa should be a right-to-work state. Vander Plaats isn't the Republican nominee for governor, so will he run as an independent? If people don't need unions, why does he need the Republican Party?
Or is Vander Plaats talking out of both sides of his mouth?
