Tyne works hard to help veterans
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Referring to the recent letters about Don Tyne, director of the Linn County Veteran Affairs Office: Do any of these writers know Tyne? I do. He is a wonderful man and does a lot for our veterans. He spends endless hours, paid and unpaid, helping veterans. His mission is to do what he can for current and past veterans.
As for his words that military people are “trained to kill” and hard to employ, I suspect those words were taken from a much larger statement that had more merit than those three words.
I've known Tyne for many years and he has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of veterans and their families. He is doing a good job as director of Veteran Affairs. It is a very stressful and time-consuming job of which I've never heard him complain.
