Grassley faking his concern for citizens
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 17, 2010 12:52 am
Chuck Grassley is pretending again.
He faked a careful consideration of Justice Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court. The Gazette published a photo of him looking thoughtful with Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, pretending that he might vote for her. No way! He pretends to support the interests of people in Iowa but he is only concerned about maintaining power and money for himself.
He is pretending to be concerned, now, about the deficit after supporting a trillion-dollar war conducted off budget, with no exit strategy. He rewrote the bankruptcy laws to favor the banks and credit card companies.
He voted against extending unemployment benefits. He pretended to consider real health care reform but then voted against it in order to favor his friends in insurance and voted against economic stimulus because increasing benefits to legal immigrants might go to “illegal” immigrants.
People are having a hard time. We can't afford pretending any longer.
