Just who is assaulting whom?

I had to laugh when I heard that President Obama has perpetrated an ”assault” on the Catholic Church. There is so much I love about the Catholic church, my great Catholic friends and the good work they do.
At some point someone must admit that the church's “assault” on women is centuries old. I believe we women are capable of knowing when giving birth is absolutely wrong for our health, the baby's health and the health of our families.
My own grandmother was nearly beaten to death by my amorous grandfather when, after 10 children, she knew she could not manage another. No one would force any woman to use birth control, but it should be available especially to poor women. Unless, of course, the church and other conservatives would support sterilization of men after they've produced a certain number (2) of children.
