Freedom Festival will launch fireworks on Fourth from May's Island lawn; prime viewing will be in lots along First Street SW
May. 4, 2010 9:58 am
They weren't making it up: The Fourth of July fireworks will be back downtown this time.
However, the Freedom Festival on Tuesday announced that viewers won't be standing on the May's Island lawn or the downtown bridges to watch the event. The reason: This year, the fireworks actually will be launched from the May's Island lawn, and not, as in the past, from the Cedar River.
The key locations for fireworks viewing will be in city parking lots along First Street SW.
