Still no cure for cancer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Thirty-four years ago, a lady was told she had breast cancer. Several surgeries, chemo, pills and 12 years later, at the age of 43, the disease took her life.
Twenty-two years have passed since that time and not much has changed. The paper is still printing death notices on a daily basis, not only from cancer, but many other diseases.
Cures have not been found, only ways to prolong your plight. Hospital wings and wonderful new treatment centers are being built. This would make one assume no cure is in sight.
How much money in the last 34 years has been collected for cancer, diabetes and Jerry's kids? Makes us feel good about ourselves, doesn't it? Does anyone really know where this money goes?
Profit and greed are the bottom line in this country. A discovered cure for just one of these ailments would be devastating to the medical profession. The loss of revenue would be staggering, including pharmacies and supply houses. You have to wonder who was not paying attention when polio was stopped in its tracks more than 50 years ago.
