Democrats protecting interests of citizens

The once proud Republican Party is now splintered and at odds with its own membership.
The Tea Party, despite its seemingly good intentions, always realigns itself with the same party from which it split. Neither entity can agree on issues in which to frame their campaigns, save for the oft-utilitized rallying cries of fewer taxes and less spending. Simply stated: Their rhetoric lacks substance, and they are therefore suspect.
My concerns are regarding how effectively they can govern in the face of so much distraction within their own ranks.
What they do understand quite well, and consequently fear, is that it is the Democrats who are moving this nation and this state forward from the ravages of recession, from the indignity of joblessness and from the devastation of natural disasters. Granted, it has not been a rapid process, but then no stable recovery can be built upon a faulty foundation.
The nation and the state are progressing in the proper direction under the present Democratic leadership. We must allow that progress to continue, and we do so by re-electing Dave Loebsack to the Congress and Chet Culver as governor and by electing Roxanne Conlin as U.S. senator.
These three Democratic leaders have proven records of protecting the interests of all citizens regardless of a person's background or financial status. Collectively, theirs is the style and the manner of dedication and hard work to which the voters should align themselves.
Vote Democrat on Nov. 2.
