Web services provider Go Daddy will begin hiring 60 next month for a new customer care facility in Hiawatha that could eventually employ several hundred.
Plans for the new center at 1 Parsons Drive were announced last month by Go Daddy founder and CEO Bob Parsons.
Parsons is more than a little familiar with the two-story, 50,000-square-foot building because it housed his Parsons Technology software company before he sold it 15 years ago.
“We bought this building because it made business sense, but I'll admit it's nice to get back to 1 Parsons Drive,” Parsons said.
The building will accommodate 500 employees, and Go Daddy plans to expand its work force over a period of months to fill the building.
About existing Go Daddy employees in marketing, development, legal and business intelligence departments will be relocating to the building from an existing 375 Collins Road NE location. The remainder will be new hires.
“Iowa is a great place from which to recruit quality people,” Go Daddy Vice President of Customer Care Miguel Lopez said in a prepared statement. “We expect to begin advertising the new open positions next month.”
Customer Care team members will started at about $12 per hour and will receive $13.50 after 90 days, according to Go Daddy President Warren Adelman. He said the company also will have other positions in the future that will pay from $50,000 to $100,000 annually.
Benefits for the new employees will include three weeks vacation in their first year, medical dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan match, and maternity and paternity leave.
The company is the world's largest domain name registrar, and a leading web hosting provider. It performs all of its customer service in-house, and does not use offshore call centers.
