Boldt, Dixie Lee
Dixie Lee Boldt, 74, of 920 Commercial St., Central City, was called home by her heavenly father on Tuesday June 12, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Valley View Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Phil Foster and Pastor Keith Pitts will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include her husband, Del; a son, Bob DeForest of Cedar Rapids, three daughters Julie DeForest of Marion, Teddie (Kirby) Crabb of Central City and Gayle (Brant) Astleford of Cedar Rapids; two stepsons, Richard (Gina) Boldt and Christopher (Melody) Boldt, and a stepdaughter, Emily (Todd Prentiss) Molter, all of Washington state; and one sister, Donna (Peter) Anderson of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Steven, James, Ben, Lydia, Lexie, Thomas, Travis, Victoria, Elizabeth, Haley, Madelyn, Faith, Hadley and Madison; three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Daemon and Kingston; and her dog, Ellie, and cat, Sweetie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Kassidy; and her beloved dog, Jackie.
Dixie was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ronald “Buss” and Ruth (Forristall) Caldwell. She married Delbert L. Boldt on April 10, 1982, in Cedar Rapids. Dixie was an insurance agent for Western Fraternal Life Association for over 18 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a faithful member of Valley View Baptist Church and a member of Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge No. 160.
She was a very talented seamstress, winning a blue ribbon at the Texas State Fair. She enjoyed going to garage sales, playing bingo, fishing, all crafts and especially the time she spent with her beloved family and many friends.
“The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's Hospice, especially Zola, Jamie and Sue, as well as the staff at Visiting Angels.”
A memorial fund has been established in Dixie's name.
