The developer of an interstate transmission line slated to cross Iowa will hold an open house Aug. 29 in Cedar Rapids to discuss supplier and vendor opportunities.
Clean Line Energy Partners is developing the Rock Island Clean Line, a 500-mile east-west direct current transmission line. The project represents a $1.7 billion investment to bring power from Midwestern wind farms to customers in the central and eastern United States.
The open house will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library's Hruske Hall, 1400 Inspiration Place SW.
The company said it will attempt to use local vendors where possible for construction equipment rental, concrete, land clearing and grubbing, grading, storm drainage and hotel operators.
The Kiewit, a major international engineering companies, is working with Clean Line Energy Partners on the project.
