Letter: The truth about Rep. Blum’s town hall

I have now read the third letter to the editor complaining about attendees at Rep. Rod Blum's town hall in Cedar Rapids on May 9. It is true that a few people at that meeting were badly behaved, but the majority were not.

Many of us oppose what Rep. Blum stands for and we oppose how he is voting in Washington. How are we supposed to get across to him the fact that thousands of 1st District constituents disagree with him?

For us to go to his town hall and sit there passively has no purpose. If you send a letter to him you get a canned response. Likewise to phone calls or emails.

The names of attendees at the town hall were drawn at random that night to ask Rep. Blum questions. Those questions were insightful and respectfully asked.

I'm sure it wasn't lost on Rep. Blum that every single question indicated opposition to his positions.
