The Cedar Rapids Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of three new administrators. All will begin their new duties on July 1.
ANGI HOYER has been named principal at Arthur Elementary School. She replaces Bill Utterback who is retiring. Hoyer has worked in the District for 19 years, serving as classroom teacher, reading facilitator, instructional coach, facilitator, and professional development trainer.
She earned her BA from the University of Northern Iowa, a Masters of Teaching from Coe College, and her Administrative Masters from Drake University.
“I welcome the opportunity to be part of the excellent traditions established at Arthur and am anxious to work together in continuing to offer the best learning opportunities possible,” Hoyer noted.
JOY LONG has been named principal at Garfield Elementary School, replacing Chris Myers who is leaving the District. An educator for nearly 25 years, Long joined the District six years ago as an elementary reading and language arts facilitator and an instructional coach. During the 2009-10 year, she served as building facilitator at Garfield.
Long received her BA from Mt. Mercy College. She also holds an Administrative Masters as a K-12 Reading Specialist from Teikyo Marycrest, and an Administrative Masters in Educational Administration from Drake University.
“I feel very fortunate to have worked with the great staff and wonderful students and families at Garfield Elementary over the past year,” Long noted. “I believe that because of my experience at Garfield we can hit the ground running, continuing our focus on student achievement and building a positive school culture.”
JEFF SCHNEEKLOTH has been appointed Associate Principal at Taft Middle School. He replaces Tom Pardonek who is retiring. A educator for more than 20 years, he began his teaching career at Harding Middle School and also worked at Roosevelt Middle School before joining the Linn-Mar District where he served as an assistant principal, principal and school administration manager. Schneekloth returned to Harding for the 2009-10 school year, serving as building facilitator.
A graduate of Kennedy High School, Schneekloth earned his BA from Central College and his Administrative Masters from the University of Northern Iowa.
“I am looking forward working with the Taft Learning Community so that students continue to achieve at their highest potential,” explained Schneekloth.
