Boyd, Marian G.

Marian G. Boyd, 99, of Iowa City, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Crestview Care Center in West Branch. The body has been cremated, as requested, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls, Wis.

Mrs. Boyd was born in 1911, in River Falls. She attended the local schools, graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Art. She was a member of the Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, and also the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minn., where she was honored as Mother of the Year in 1955. She was active in the schools and community activities also. Later, the family moved to Iowa City, where she continued to be active locally. Mrs. Boyd was self-employed for over 25 years as a representative and area manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation of Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by three children, Darrel and wife Patricia of Phoenix, Ariz., Jeanine of White Bear, Minn., and Norlin of Iowa City; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; plus several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by parents, Franklin and Henrietta; her youngest son, Bruce; two brothers and their wives; a her sister, Doris and her husband; and her former husband, Paul J. Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Iowa City Crisis Center.
