August Ray Baack, 90, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, at
1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, May 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Park Memorial Funeral Home.
August was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Woden, Iowa, to Paul and Augusta (Brandt) Baack. August was united in marriage to Waiva Beck on Aug. 15, 1943, in Nashua, Iowa. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Waiva of Marion; his son, Gary (Marilyn) Baack of Marion; two grandsons, David (Janice) Baack of Cedar Rapids and Paul Baack of Marion; and one great-grandson, Ryan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur, John and Walter; and one sister, Alma.
