Graber, Carolyn
Carolyn Graber, 56, of Washington, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at St. James Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Beatty Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A Christian prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
A general memorial in the name of Carolyn Graber has been established.
Carolyn was born Nov. 1, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Douglas and Darlene (Hasley) Wear Holtkamp. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1975 and became an x-ray tech in Ottumwa. She was united in marriage to Jerry D. Graber on April 25, 1981, in Mount Pleasant.
Carolyn was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was employed at Washington County Public Health for over 30 years. She enjoyed camping, reading, antiques and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Jerry, survivors include her mother, Darlene and husband Art of Harlingen, Texas; daughters, Pamela (Graber) Beck Venvertloh and husband Robert of Ursa, Ill., and Rosetta (Graber) Hedges and husband Jon of Cedar Rapids; and son, Jacob of Washington, Iowa. She is also survived by brothers, Larry Wear and wife Sindy of New London, Iowa, and Dale Wear and wife Becky of Middletown, Del.; sister, Diane Jenkinson and husband Steve of Muscatine; brothers, Randy Holtkamp and wife Beth of Sitka, Alaska, Gary Holtkamp and wife Bonita of Branson, Mo., and Jay Holtkamp and wife Rhonda of Marion; and grandchildren, Scott Beck, Sabrina Beck, Tim Beck and Madison Beck.
She was preceded in death by her father.
