May, Johann Faye
Johann Faye May, 80, of Anamosa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her home. A Celebration of Life will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 1, at the Martelle United Methodist Church. Luncheon will be served after service.
Johann is survived by her husband of 25 years, Charles May of Anamosa; children, Jerry (Frank) Plower of Edgewood, N.M., Susan Cavadel of Mobile, Ala., and Jim Plower and significant other Beth of Martelle; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen (Dorothy) Nesley and Dean (Marcia) Nesley; and a sister, Patsy (Keith) Peyton.
Johann was preceded in death her parents; brother, Norman Nesley; and sister, Mariam Banowitz.
Johann was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Lisbon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Grace (Horak) Nesley. She married Charles May in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 5, 1988. She spent most of her life as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Johann was very active in her church, Martelle United Methodist Church, and the Stone City Community Center. Johann enjoyed cooking, bingo, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
