Deskins, Williams D.
William D. Deskins, 60, of Davenport, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Manor Care on Utica Ridge. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28,at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge, Davenport, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of expressions of sympathy, a memorial has been established in Bill's name.
Bill was born in 1951 in Jefferson City, Mo., to Hobart “Dusty” and Betty Deskins. He was united in marriage to Beverly Crane in 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After graduation from high school, Bill received his Bachelor's Degree from Culver Stockton College in Canton, Mo., in 1973. He then received his Master's Degree of Divinity from Texas Christian University in 1976 and was ordained the same year. After several years in the ministry, Bill went on to pursue other business interests. He worked with the Dunhill Company until 1986 at which time he started Deskins Technology, until selling the business in 2004.
Survivors include his daughter, Rachel Deskins of Davenport; granddaughters, Grace, Mary and Lilly; a brother, Bob (Alice) Deskins of Independence, Mo.; stepson, Matthew Crane of Reno, Nev.; and a stepsister, Sherri Kross of Jefferson City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
