Schuster, Robert P.
Robert P. Schuster, 83, of Hopkinton, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his home. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Robert was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Louise (Hessing) Schuster. He married Isabel Sperfslage on Aug. 11, 1953, in Castle Grove, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan, from 1953 to 1955, and returned home to begin his family and run his farm.
Survivors include his children, Peter of Waterloo, Paul (Cathy), Robert and Ted (Renee), all of Hopkinton, Cynthia Schuster of Parker, Colo., and Lorraine Schuster and Amy Schuster, both of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie McNamara of Rogers, Ark.; and three sisters-in-law, Dolores Gassmann of Iowa City, Eleanor Ryan of Monticello, and Lila Mae Sperfslage of Coggon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Isabel in 1981; a daughter, Linda Schuster; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, George McNamara, Joe Sperfslage Jr., George Gassmann and Alice (Don) Shea.
