Two teenagers died when the car they were riding in crashed early Saturday morning in Clinton County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a car driven by Justin J. Sparks, 19, of Charlotte, was southbound around 2:50 a.m. on County Highway Z40, about five miles south of Miles, when he lost control. The car went into the ditch, hit a tree and overturned, authorities said.
Sparks and two passengers were thrown from the vehicle. Jed J. Rogis, 19, of Clinton, and Kristin F. Hanrahan, 18, of Delmar, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Sparks was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Clinton.
