Burbach, Kenneth 'Kenny' Joseph
Kenneth “Kenny” Joseph Burbach, 70, of 2161 Agate St., Marion, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by the Rev. Mark Ressler. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit with the family Tuesday after 4 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Mary; two sisters, Elaine (Don) Hochstein of Hartington, Neb., and Phyllis (Bill) Huinker of Postville; three brothers, Allan Burbach of O'Fallon, Mo., Gary (Cecelia) Burbach of Marion and Francis (Colleen) Burbach of Lexington, Va.; his in-laws, Don and Ann Rowe of Cedar Rapids and Patty Burbach of Parkston, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; a brother, James Burbach; a sister and her husband, Alice and Clovis Weinandt; and a sister-in-law, Pam Burbach.
Kenny was born March 4, 1943, in Hartington, Neb., the son of Florenz and Veronica Lammers Burbach. He married Mary Torner on May 12, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. He attended the REI Institute in Omaha, Neb., and in 1999, graduated with a B.A. degree in business administration from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. Kenny retired in 2000 as a dispatcher with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and the International Association of Firefighters Local 11.
Kenny was an avid bridge player and sports fan and enjoyed spending time on his computer.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
