Knoot, Robert W.
Robert W. Knoot, 64, of 3317 Timber Valley Ct. NE, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City from a courageous battle with ALS. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military rites by the Iowa Military Funeral Honors Guard. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila; a son, Rob, and his significant other, Pam; four daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Mann, Sarah Knoot and her significant other, Dennis, Emily Knoot and her significant other, Pat, and Megan Knoot, all of Cedar Rapids; brother, Gene (Janice) of Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Connie; and brothers, Ken of Oskaloosa and Marvin (Julie) of New Sharon. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Marissa, Haylee, Dominic, Delaney, Jonas and Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dick.
Bob was born in Oskaloosa on Nov. 18, 1945, the son of James and Jennie Van Weelden Knoot, and graduated from Coe College. He married Sheila A. Cummings on March 25, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Bob was manager at the Greyhound Transportation Center in Cedar Rapids for over 25 years. Most recently he was in car sales.
He enjoyed watching Hawkeye basketball and was a huge fan of Kurt Warner. Bob proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was an avid car enthusiast.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the ALS Foundation in Bob's name.
