Walker is an exemplary candidate

I urge all citizens who have the right and responsibility to vote in this election, to do so. I have heard too many utterances from citizens who intend to 'Sit this one out.” Lots of talk about 'voting one's conscience”, and chatter about finding nothing redeeming in either presidential candidate.
Please be reminded that a democracy is the one form of government that holds within its tenants the tools of its own destruction. Abdication of the voting privilege can be construed as a step in that direction. Additionally, as a person of color, I am mindful that the vote was not available to people who look like me as little as 60 years ago; it is important for all - but especially important for people of color not to be frivolous with their vote.
Moreover, it is important to remember that on Nov. 8, we also will be electing 'down ballot” candidates, including Stacey Walker for supervisor. Candidate Walker is a man of scruples and principles who knows and loves this community. He is home grown, well schooled, and brings youth as well as experience to the table. Walker is an exemplary candidate. There is nothing objectionable about him. I would hate for a needed candidate like Walker to lose votes because voters are playing fast and loose with the franchise. I urge voters to let their conscience guide them to vote - for Stacey Walker.
