Gehring, Robert 'Bob' D.

Robert “Bob” D. Gehring, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 9, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Hope United Church of Christ Church by the Rev. Mary Beth Hartenstein. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. at the church, before the funeral service. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie; son, Tom (Beth) Gehring of St. Paul, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Brian Gehring.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Robert Darrow was born April 5, 1927, in Bloomer, Wis., the son of Charles and Retha (Caukins) Gehring. Bob served in the army during World War II. He married Jacqueline M. Hartz on June 15, 1957, in New Brighton, Minn. Bob received his Bachelor's Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration. Following that he worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1987.

Bob enjoyed photography, listening to music and was fascinated by science.
