Brooks, Barbara J.
Barbara J. Brooks, 79, left this life comfortably for the heavenly hereafter, with her husband and her son at her bedside, on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2009.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was the daughter of the late Sherman and Geneva (Crank) Madlock. Barbara moved to Albany, N.Y., with her husband and son in 1953, worked at the Research Foundation for the State University and retired from Northstar Bank. She was a communicant of All Saints Cathedral in Albany and also a member of The Links, Inc.
Barbara will especially be remembered as being a devoted wife and mother. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 58 years, Edward J. Brooks Jr. She was the devoted mother of Edward J. Brooks III of Cicero, N.Y. Also surviving is her sister, Patricia Hicks of Las Vegas, Nev., and her brother, Gordon Madlock of Cedar Rapids.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at All Saints Cathedral, 63 Swan St., Albany. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Route 155, south of Central Avenue), N.Y. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
