Leola Pfotenhauer passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Lantern Park Nursing Home in Coralville.
Leola was born June 26, 1921, the daughter of Eric B. and Amelia (Becker) Carlson, in rural Idaho Falls, Idaho. After high school, she attended business school and worked in Idaho Falls until meeting the Rev. Alexander Pfotenhauer. They were married in Idaho Falls in 1943. She resided in Iowa City since 2002.
Preceding Leola in death were her husband of 50 years and three of her four siblings, a nephew and a niece.
Surviving Leola are her sister, Mabel; and three children, Vivian (Tom) Schulein of Iowa City, Martin (Judith) Pfotenhauer and James (Susan) Pfotenhauer. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City followed by a funeral service at 10 a. m. Following the service, the family will travel to Rockford, Ill., for committal at Sunset Memorial Gardens, beside her husband.
