Nading, Ruth A.
Ruth A. Nading, 72, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Ruth Anne Nading was born March 17, 1940, to John and Vera Stephens May in Nortonville, Kan. She was united in marriage to Russell Nading on May 20, 1961, in Eudora, Kan. Because Russ served 20 years in the Air Force, they frequently moved and Ruth was the strength behind each move. She made sure all the things involved in moving the family were taken care of ahead of time.
She enjoyed plants and collecting angels. Ruth was an avid reader and especially loved using her new Kindle. Ruth was a member of Al-Anon for 35 years.
She was a great and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruth will always be remembered for putting others first and not only showing us how to live but in her final days showing us how to die. Of all the angels she collected, God now has one of them in heaven.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Russ; sons, Randall (Sue), Ryland (LuAnne), and Matthew; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachael, Samuel, Zachary and Joshua Nading; brothers, Charles May of Lawrence, Kan., and Bob May of Groves, Texas; and sisters, Donna Courter and Mera (LeRoy) Mize, both of Oskaloosa, Kan.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Special thanks to Dr. Carter, Jennifer Weis, Dr. O, JP4E Nurses, everyone in the surgical ICU unit, and all the staff and technicians at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their kindness and help they gave to Ruth.
Please leave an online condolence for the family at www.cedarmemorial.com under Obituaries.
