Updated loop closures at U.S. 218/I-80/I-380 Interchange in Johnson County

Construction work will lead to closure of the loops from I-380 southbound to I-80 eastbound and also I-80 westbound to U.S. 218 southbound tonight, May 3, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

Traffic on I-380 southbound will be detoured to the Melrose Avenue Exit and then north on U.S. 218 to travel east on I-80.

Traffic on I-80 westbound will be detoured to Exit 237 (Tiffin) then east on I-80 to travel south on U.S. 218.

Please follow the marked detours when these loops are closed.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
