Geneva C. Burckart, 82, of Houston, Minn., formerly of Monona, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran
Medical Center, La Crosse, Minn.
She was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Green Island, Iowa, to Eugene and Edith (McMahon) Ottaway. Geneva married Frederick Burckart on May 25, 1948, in Elkader.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Michael) Ott, Pamela (Ron) Schwanke, Brenda (Gerald) Nagel, Patrick (Ann) Burckart, Theresa (Sidney) Horns, Stormy (Jerry) Eglseder and Chris Burckart; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Patsy (Ed) Schlueter; a brother, Francis (Jean) Ottaway; a sister-in-law, Lucille Bollman; a brother-in-law, Earl Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and the love of her life, Fred; a daughter, Diane; two sons, Mike and Donnie; a grandson, John Ott; and a sister, Phyllis Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hokah, Minn. The Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Monona. Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Service of La Crescent, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
