Hoskins, Delores K.

Delores K. Hoskins, 64, of Independence, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence.

Delores was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of John D. and Alma M. (Andrews) Lawless. She attended Independence schools and was married to Melvin A. Lee in 1966. The family lived in Iowa, Idaho, and Illinois, where Delores was employed with several small manufacturing companies and as a certified nursing assistant for 14 years in Idaho. Following the death of her husband Melvin in 1986, she returned to the Independence area, where on Aug. 6, 1988, she married Robert V. Hoskins in Oelwein. The couple made their home near Independence.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Hoskins; two children, Brenda Schellhorn, Waterloo, and Rick Lee, Independence; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Pippenger, Hannibal, Mo., Lenore Snell, Waterloo, and Pamela Schafer, Independence; and two brothers, John Lawless, Shellsburg, and David Lawless, Independence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Melvin A. Lee; and a brother, William Lawless.
