Seeking understanding of ‘the Corridor’

I keep hearing of things happening in 'the Corridor. For instance, the weather in the Corridor is such and such.
What is the Corridor? A hallway, narrow street, an alley? Where is it? Google maps doesn't know. Does it have a government, police department, fire department or speed cameras? Perhaps the media could enlighten us by being more specific.
Just call me old and confused, and somewhat offended. I never thought I'd end up living in an alley … sorry, I mean, the Corridor.
