Kernels lose late to Lake County, 6-3

EASTLAKE, Ohio - The Lake County Captains scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning to knock off the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 6-3, in a Wednesday afternoon Midwest League game.

Reliever Jared Wilson (5-4) took the loss. He walked Greg Allen with two outs, with his throwing error on a pickoff attempt moving Allen to third.

Taylor Murphy followed with a RBI single to right. Anthony Santander followed with a two-run home run.

The Kernels (67-48, 26-19) tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the eighth on a RBI fielder's choice grounder by Tanner English. He had a hit, two runs, a RBI, a walk and two stolen bases in the game.

Felix Jorge started for Cedar Rapids and allowed three hits and three runs in six innings. Bobby Bradley's 21st homer of the season accounted for those three runs.

The teams conclude their three-game series Thursday night. It'll be the rubber game, as the Kernels won Tuesday night, 5-4.
