A Celebration of Life in recognition of broadcasting legend Bob Brooks has been scheduled for July 27 at 5 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, the University of Iowa announced.
Brooks, a Cedar Rapids native, died June 25 at 89.

He earned his journalism degree from Iowa in 1948 and covered the Hawkeyes, local high schools and minor-league teams at WSUI from 1943 to 1948, KCRG from 1949 to 1976, KHAK from 1977 to 2000 and then KMRY until his recent illness.

Like his father, he was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Cedar Rapids minor league baseball organization.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bob Brooks Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
