Terbl, Alice Rose Geiger
Alice Rose Geiger Terbl, 94, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Western Home Martin Center in Cedar Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery.
Alice was born July 13, 1915, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Mary Dvorak Geiger. She spent most of her life in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Grant High School in 1933. She worked for Quaker Oats, Cedar Rapids school system and the Linn County Treasurer. Alice married Emil A. Terbl on Jan. 21, 1939, in Mexico, Mo., by Father Gavin at St. Brendan Catholic Church. They were happily married for over 58 years. Alice and Emil traveled extensively. She enjoyed reading, map study and hiking. Alice had a loving marriage and family. She was blessed with wonderful memories.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (Robert) Dieter of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Allison (Jared) Graening of Waverly, Robert (Patricia) Dieter of Maple Grove, Minn., and John Dieter of Kirksville, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Nora and Peter Graening, Abigail, Joseph, Elise and Amelia Dieter.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil, who died in November 1996; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Noel) Shields; and a brother and sister-in-law, George (Alice) Geiger.
